SIWWAA is: Heritage

SIWWAA is Africa’s rich cultural heritage made manifest through design products and stories that open doors to the experience of this legacy. 

We are motivated by the fact that there is so much that is unknown, and even under-appreciated about Africa’s abundant cultural collateral, of which craftsmanship is merely a part, not the whole. 

We are inspired by the knowledge that this valuable inheritance can result in more than museum pieces stored behind glass walls to be seen rather than experienced. Instead, it can be made relevant for today’s men and women, co-existing seamlessly with contemporary lifestyles.

We are also acutely aware that this is an inheritance that needs to be preserved so that future generations can enjoy it, learn from it, and find the source of their beginnings in it.
